February 13, 2015 - Scholz Joins Virginia Tech Real Estate Advisory Board

Kevin Boyle, Director of the Virginia Tech Program in Real Estate Industry Advisory Board, announces the addition of Henry Scholz, Director of Commercial Real Estate Service at MKB, REALTORS in Roanoke, Virginia to the Board. The Bachelor of Science in Real Estate is a unique interdisciplinary academic program that developed real estate industry leaders by transcending boundaries and building on university strengths in building construction, business, design, economics, engineering, entrepreneurship, environment, law, planning, and property management. Scholz is excited to be a part of the Real Estate Industry Advisory Board and to be instrumental in forging strong ties between the Board and the Virginia Association of REALTORS. Scholz previously served for 6 years on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of REALTORS. He currently serves on the Commercial Legislative and Regulatory subcommittee of the National Association of REALTORS.

December 2014 - Scholz Elected to BBB Board of Directors
Henry Scholz, Director of Commercial Real Estate with MKB REALTORS in Roanoke, Virginia was elected to the Board of Directors of the Better Business Bureau of Western Virginia. October 2014 - Virginia Association of REALTORS names Mary Dykstra REALTOR of the Year
At it's annual meeting in Virginia Beach, the Virginia Association of REALTORS announced that Mary Dykstra a partner in MKB REALTORS in Roanoke, Virginia, was named REALTOR of the Year. The REALTOR of the Year Award is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the Association.

October 2013 - MKB, REALTORS named Small Business of the Year by Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerc
The Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce honored several businesses at an awards banquet held at the Hotel Roanoke. With almost 600 in attendance, MKB was honored to receive the Small Business of the Year award in the Construction /  Real Estate category. MKB celebrates its 40th year serving clients throughout western Virginia. With 120 agents in three offices, MKB has a long history of giving back to it's community. September 2013 - MKB Commercial Announces Sale of Hawthorne Towers

Henry Scholz, Director of Commercial Real Estate Services at MKB, REALTORS announces the sale of the Hawthorne Towers in Roanoke, Virginia. Located in Roanoke County, Hawthorne Towers has 144 one bedroom and efficiency apartments. The six story building has 80,000 square feet and sits on 5 acres. The property sold for $1,250,000.

Scholz represented the Owner, City National Bank in the marketing and sale of the property. City National Bank acquired the property through foreclosure in October of 2011 from Roanoke Holdings LLC.  The property had been subject to a previous foreclosure in 2004. The purchaser of the property, Kissito Village of Roanoke will be making substantial improvements to the property. 

Scholz states that "Hawthorne is a unique property in that 57 of the apartments are available through a Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract with HUD. The entire project is governed by a Use Agreement with HUD that requires that all of the units must be kept as affordable housing units until 2024.

Scholz also commented that "the property presented many challenges. Because of deferred maintenance many of the units were unrented. We tailored a marketing campaign that targeted a market that was prepared and willing to take on a substantial rehab project. "We also had to keep in mind that HUD would have the final say in approving the purchaser.

MKB Celebrates 40th Anniversary With Charitable Giving
September 2013 - MKB, REALTORS celebrates its 40th anniversary by announcing that for forty weeks drawings will be held with a $400 donation made to a charity of choice. At the end of August, over $8,000 had been donated to valley charities. By the end of 2013, over $20,000 will have been donated to area charities. Some of the recipients to date include: Alzheimer's Association, Feeding America, Apple Ridge Farms, VA Western Educational Foundation, St. Francis Service Dogs, TAP Domestic Violence, Angels of Assisi, Children's Trust, American Cancer Association, Red Cross, Rescue Mission, Ronald McDonald House, Straight Street and the Salvation Army. August 2013 - Hale named Chairman of VHDA Board of Commissioners
The Virginia Housing Development Authority Board of Commissioners has elected Kit Hale of MKB, REALTORS in Roanoke as its Vice Chair.  Hale is part of the ownership team at MKB, REALTORS and is a past President of the Virginia Association of REALTORS.  The VHDA Board is comprised of 11 Commissioners, all appointed by the Governor.  Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, VHDA is a 9 billion dollar company and is recognized as one of the most outstanding housing finance agencies in the country. December 2012 - Scholz Receives REALTOR Of The Year Award
The Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS has named Henry Scholz as the 2012 REALTOR of the Year. Scholz, Director of Commercial Real Estate Services with MKB, REALTORS in Roanoke, Virginia has been a REALTOR for 30 years and served as the President of the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS in 2000. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of REALTORS as well the Commercial Committee for the National Association of REALTORS. December 2012 - Scholz Reappointed to NAR Commercial Committee
Gary Thomas, President of  the National Association of REALTORS announced committee appointments for 2013. Thomas has appointed Henry Scholz with MKB, REALTORS to the 2013 Commercial Committee as well as the Legislative and Regulatory Sub-Committee. Scholz, the Director of Commercial Real Estate Services with MKB, REALTORS has served on the Commercial Committee since 2010. NAR's Commercial Committee is tasked with to identify, monitor, review, analyze and recommend policies addressing commercial real estate industry issues and to review, analyze and recommend policy on legislative and regulatory issues affecting commercial real estate.

October 2012 - MKB's Mary Dykstra Installed as 2013 President of the Virginia Association of RE
The Virginia Association of REALTORS installed Mary Dykstra, Director of Business Development at MKB, REALTORS in Roanoke to lead the 28,000 member organization. The installation occurred on October 6th at the Virginia Association of  REALTORS Convention in Virginia Beach. Mary will serve as the Virginia Association of REALTORS 2013 President. MKB, REALTORS has also seen two other members of its ownership team serve as President of the Virginia Association of REALTORS. Kit Hale was President of the Association in 2006. Steve Hoover was President in 1992.

July 2012 - Governor appoints Hoover to VA Real Estate Board
Governor Bob McDonnell has appointed Steve Hoover of MKB, REALTORS® in Roanoke, VA to a four year term on the Virginia Real Estate Board. The 9 member Virginia Real Estate Board is tasked with overseeing the licensing requirement of the 44,000 real estate licensees in the Commonwealth. The Board is also tasked with enforcing Virginia's Fair Housing laws. Hoover is an owner/broker at MKB, REALTORS and has been a REALTOR since 1972. Hoover was the 1992 President of the Virginia Association of REALTORS and is a recipient of the National Association of REALTORS Distinguished Service Award.

March 2012 - MKB REALTORS Announces New Ownership
MKB REALTORS, one of Virginia's premier real estate firms since 1973 announced a new ownership team. The new ownership includes current manager Kit Hale, Steve Hoover, Mary Dykstra, Curtis Burchett and Henry Scholz. Hale and Hoover are both past Presidents of the Virginia Association of REALTORS. Dykstra will be installed as President of the Virginia Association of REALTORS in the fall of 2012. Scholz currently serves on the state association's Board of Directors. Scholz joins the ownership team with 24 years experience as a commercial real estate Associate Broker with Hall Associates, Inc. in Roanoke.

January 2011 - Scholz named top Associate for 2010
January 2011. Henry Scholz, Senior Associate Broker, was named the top Associate at Hall Associates for 2010. Henry's successful transactions for his clients in 2010 included several substantial multi-family sales as well as significant leasing transactions for the Commonwealth of Virginia through his partnership with CB Richard Ellis.

October 2009 - National Association of REALTORS appoints 2010 Commercial Alliance Committee
October 2009.  Henry Scholz of Roanoke, Virginia has been appointed to the 2010 Commercial Alliance Committee of the National Association of REALTORS. Scholz served as the Chairman of the Virginia Association of REALTORS Commercial Alliance in 2007.  He currently serves on the 35 member Board of Directors of the Virginia Association of REALTORS which oversees the 33,000 REALTOR members in the Commonwealth. Scholz said that one of his goals at both the State and National level is to "increase the awareness of just how specialized commercial issues are and the skill set that is necessary to properly practice commercial real estate." He further states that Virginia is studying advocating for certification of commercial practitioners and that "seperate licensing requirements may be prudent to assure that the public is being served with the highest level of proficiency."

November 2009 - City of Roanoke, Virginia selects real estate agent.
November 2009.  Henry Scholz, an Associate Real Estate Broker in Roanoke, Virginia, has been chosen by the City of Roanoke to market surplus property that it desires to sell or lease and to provide consulting services.  The City of Roanoke is the largest urban center in Virginia west of Richmond. With a population of 94,000, the overall Metropolitian Statistical Area (MSA) encompasses over 295,000. January 2009 - Radford University Real Estate Foundation selects agent
